History of the School

Janaki Ramachandran Kalalayam owes its inception to the initiative of Late Thiru P.Narayanan founder with the blessings of BharathRatna(Late) Dr.M.G.R and his wife Mrs.Janaki Ramachandran. The institution made a humble beginning on 3rd July 2000 with 2 tiny tots in the Kindergarten section. 400 students in the very next year. 800 in 2003 and was recognized as Matriculation schools on to the 12th year of service. In 2003 July again the school is upgraded to the status of a Higher Secondary school, JRK Nagar at Kattankulathur, Kanchipuram District is the new bud added to the bouquet of JRK group of schools.

Our Mission is to preserve and enhance the highest standards of excellence in overall development of the students. We believe in the kind of education where all the efforts are devoted to enhance and upfill the personality of the students. We work to offer opportunities to excel in academics, games, sports and co-curricular activities. We believe that student learning is the chief priority and all the students can learn to their fullest potential. Students will develop their individual talents, critical thinking, active involvement and technical skills by being ardently engaged in the learning process. Continous commitment to improvement ensures that our students are well-rounded, self directed and lifelong learners.

History of our founder

Late Thiru P. Narayanan, the founder of our school was born on January 23, 1930 in Vaikam – Kottayam district, Kerala. He was a man of simplicity and humility. His schooling in Vaikom High School and PS Hr. Sec. School, Mylapore made him a harbinger. He completed his PUC in Pachaippas and B.Sc.Degree in Presidency College. He was an active member of The Presidency College Alumni.

His placidity and endurance was duly recognized by his sister Mrs.Janaki and her husband Mr.M.G.Ramachandran, who handed over The MGR Middle School to Mr. P.Narayanan, in the year 1977. From then on, there was no looking back.

He has carved a niche in the field of education by his painstaking and zealous work, upholding coherence and credible values, with sincerity and tireless dedication. Janaki Ramachandran Kalalayam made a humble beginning on July 3rd 1978 with the tiny tots in the Kindergarten section. This is in accordance with Shakespeare’s quote. “To climb steep hills requires a slow pace first”. Then with amazing speed the school was upgraded to the status of a Higher Secondary School along with a branch of CBSE in Kattankulathur. Our founder has sown the seeds of priceless knowledge which has now flourishingly grown bearing ripe fruits. Let’s all walk in the path of the great man.

Correspondent's Message

The School, with fun-filled and invigorating environment, focuses on education by which character is formed, strength of mind is developed, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own feet.With a vision to empower students, the school stresses on academic excellence as well as active involvement in a wide range of co-curricular activities. The school relishes the responsibility of creating accountable citizens and the curriculum followed is dynamic with sports and games, environmental activities, various clubs, community service, aesthetic and life skills woven seamlessly into the school programme.

It is heartening to have the dedicated team of teachers who put their heart and soul in imparting all-round education as envisioned and commenced at the inception of the school.
